Dr. Josephs’ Diet and Exercise Regime

Q: I attended your last seminar “Teeth for Life”, which was great by the way. I was surprised to hear you say that you are fifty-eight years old. You look at least ten years younger.  I have seen many doctors over the years who are overweight and out of shape and find it very unsettling. What is your secret if I may ask?

A: I am flattered you asked. If airhead celebrities can write diet and exercise books, why not take advice from a health professional? We have many talents. Did you know the author of Jurassic Park, the late Michael Creighton was an MD?

Here is what I do and what I recommend to you:

1) Exercise four days per week, for one hour each of those days. Two of those days are weight lifting.

2) The other two days have to be cardio. I bike run or swim laps depending on the weather or mood. The cardio must be 20 to 30 min.

3) Diet: Six meals per day. 7:45 AM: Isopure Zero Carb Protein Shake. 11:00AM four egg whites on matzo with a bit of shredded cheddar cheese. 1:00 PM: Big meal of the day for me: Any type of sandwich that includes some type of meat or fish: beef, poultry, pork, with a side salad. If you get fries or chips, eat five of them. 5:00PM a Quest protein bar (GNC). 7:00PM: BBQ Filet Minion, chicken and broccoli  sausages, chicken and feta meatballs, or pasta with meet sauce. Side of grilled peppers. 9:00PM yoghurt and fruit with cereal on top.

Over the weekend: a dose of pizza and one cheeseburger for a reward, but no fries and no meats on the pizza. Try to order fish when you go out; who wants their home to stink like fish?! (How weird; fish eat fish for every meal. What does a piranha say when he is munching on a human: “Hey, this guy is way under cooked; he still smells like an accountant.”)
