Choosing a Dental Office in 2020, or Right Now!
Q: I would love to attend your next seminar, but will be out of town on November 8th. Can you briefly explain what to look for in a “modern” dental office? (I know I won’t get to see the slides, but I appreciate any guidance.)
A: Well unfortunately you are going to miss the hot pretzels. (We got rid of the stale Danish that tasted like feet.) And my whole shtick on my previous jobs in the enema and nail polish factory, working my way through college.
Here is a check list of some of the hi-tech items you would find in a modern dental office that performs cosmetic, implant and general dentistry:
The doctor has taken well over the 30 required hours of continuing education ever TWO years. (I just finished my 100th hour). Ask for their CE Broker Transcript.
Digital Xrays: Less radiation, better accuracy
Electronic anesthesia devices: less pain vs. the old shots
Osstell: A sound wave device to check if implants are failing
Digital No-goop impressions with the iTero Element: more accurate fitting dental work; no gagging.
Digital 3D diagnostic “smile preview” models: Showing your new smile before the veneers are done also used to make beautiful temporaries.
No-Cut, tissue- punch implant surgery; no scalpel, no stitches, faster healing
Natural looking veneers, using Empress porcelains, not tooth bonding or Lumineers.
Utilizing conservative porcelain inlays vs. crowns to save tooth structure.
A four day lab turnover time posterior crowns by using robotically milled crowns. Gets you out of temporaries faster!
