Implants Failing? See the “Penguin”

Q: I have a history of failing implants years ago. I will need more to replace my missing back upper teeth. How can I be sure they will work this time around?

A: Have no fear; the Penguin is here!

From 1994 to 2009 I had a live call-in radio show called “Tooth Talk” which aired on local AM radio stations in Palm Beach County, Florida. The veteran general manager of the radio station told me once in a discussion on the power of the medium: “People are like Penguins; they all follow each other. Whatever comes out of their car’s speakers, they will obey.” (He also told me “radio is the lowest rung on the show business ladder and my “face is too good looking for radio”.)

A new-ish device called the Penguin can check how strongly your implants are embedded in the bone. The moment the implant is placed into your bone, we pick up the device, which looks like an electric tooth brush, and aim a sound beam at the implant. The beam bounces back and gives a digital read out indication how high your ISQ (implant stability quotient) is. If you hit 70+, the implant is so well embedded, crowns, bridges or Snap-on dentures can be made immediately without waiting three to four months or more.

Lower readings will dictate how many weeks or months you need to wait for the implants to integrate solidly into your bone, allowing for the making for the final teeth.

I will have great visuals at my seminar up on the screen demonstrating this awesome way to assure your implants will “make it!”
